How to install an eSIM on Android

Android menus vary by manufacturer, model, country and software version. Before you begin, confirm your exact phone supports eSIM, is unlocked, and has a Wi-Fi connection. Keep the eSIM QR code on another screen.

Step-by-step workflow

Step-by-step workflow

  1. On Google Pixel, open Settings, tap Network & internet, then SIMs, Add SIM and Set up an eSIM. On Samsung Galaxy, open Settings, tap Connections, then SIM manager and Add eSIM or Add mobile plan.
  2. Choose the QR-code option shown on your phone and scan the code from another screen. If your order provides manual activation details, enter only those exact details.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts and wait for the phone to confirm that the eSIM profile has been added. The final activation step may depend on the plan instructions.
  4. If your phone offers line labels, give the eSIM a clear name such as Travel or the destination. Keep your usual line available for calls if you need it.
  5. Select the travel eSIM for mobile data when you are ready to use it. Enable data roaming for that eSIM only when the plan instructions require it.

Practical tips

  1. Samsung and Pixel menu names can change with software updates, and eSIM availability can vary by model and market. Check the manufacturer’s support page for your exact model.
  2. Do not delete an installed profile or repeatedly scan the QR code. Many eSIM installation codes can only be used once.
  3. If the eSIM option is missing, confirm the exact model, Android version and carrier-unlock status before ordering or contacting support.
